Microchipping

If you have ever been separated from your pet, you understand what a scary feeling this experience causes. In the past, we had to rely on engraved collars which could fall off or be removed, as well as posters, and social media. Fortunately, there is now a permanent form of identification known as a microchip that can be utilized in the event your constant companion becomes lost. Belle Chasse Veterinary Clinic recommends each of the pets under our care receive a microchip, which can be inserted in your pet on your next visit to our clinic.

Microchips are tiny devices approximately the size of a grain of rice, which are inserted under the skin of your pet, between their shoulder blades. Each microchip can be read by a device that is readily available at most veterinary clinics and shelters. The microchip has a code that is specific to you and your pet; once it is scanned, you will be contacted to come and pick them up.

Microchips are no more painful than most vaccine injections, and can even be inserted when your pet is under anesthesia for a spay, neuter, or other surgical event. Give your pet the greatest opportunity to be reunited with you by having them microchipped at Belle Chasse Veterinary Clinic. Please contact one of our experienced team members today to schedule an appointment for your pet’s permanent microchip.
